Culture Support Program 2026/2027
Program will be active May 1 to February 26th or until Funding is no longer available
The Society is committed to supporting Tribe members’ participation in cultural events such as Powwows, ceremonial dances, and other traditional gatherings, as well as providing reimbursement for food costs for hosting traditional gatherings of their own, such as memorials. To facilitate this, the Society will offer reimbursement for eligible cultural expenses in accordance with AGLC requirements

What will be available
Members can access one of the following:
up to $250 for food reimbursement on hosting a Memorial
OR
Up to $250 for travel to attend cultural gathering such as a Powwow, Ceremonial Dance, Memorial, Rodeo
Limit Of 1 Application per Vehicle or Memorial Hosting
Memorial costs are only available for memorials between 1 to 4 years.
What do you need
For Memorial Food Costs:

Receipt as proof of purchase for the food provided at the gathering, completed by debit, credit or cash.

Receipt can be submitted before or after the traditional gathering, if it is after the gathering, receipts should be submitted no later than 2 weeks after.
For a Cultural Gathering Expense;

Travel - the applying member must list the names of the travellers, travel dates, and destination. This information will be used to determine eligibility and calculate mileage for reimbursement, where applicable.

If a rental vehicle is used, mileage per diems will not be paid. Instead, the cost of the rental vehicle may be reimbursed with submission of a valid receipt.

Accommodation costs may be reimbursed upon submission of itemized receipts. Reimbursements for accommodations will only be processed after receipts are reviewed and approved by the Society.

For out-of-province travel, a completed Travel Itinerary (Form 4443) must be submitted in advance for prior approval.

All categories must provide a copy of the advertisement or post on Social Media and the Bear Hills Casino Society must be able to verify the event​
