ANIMAL CONTROL PROGRAM
We proudly support the Animal Control Program for Louis Bull Tribe.
This means that Louis Bull Tribe is responsible for Management and Administration of the program and the Bear Hills Casino Society is the financial support for the program to run.

This program will be fully active by May 15 2026 and may be implemented earlier.

What does Animal Control Mean
Louis Bull Tribe Animal Control will be using a community support approach to support the already existing Bylaws Louis Bull Tribe has in place.
There will be access to food supports; community programs when available; and spay and neuter clinics for Louis Bull Tribe.
All these programs are available to registered animals only; and must be On Reserve.

If an animal is called in to the Animal Control Officer; the officer will respond and follow the policies in place to manage the call.

Please note - Unfixed animals are not allowed to be roaming and if taken in the animal will be spay or neutered and held for in Animal Controls care until claimed by the home owner or they will be given to an outside rescue after their holding period.
When do we call Animal Control
The Animal Control Officer is hired to support the Louis Bull Tribe with any domestic animal that is on your property that does not belong; or in a community space where animals are not welcome.

Your animals are allowed to be roaming on your property; but if they leave they can be called in.
If your animal is on your property, not contained and is aggressive to Louis Bull Housing, Security or any other representative of Louis Bull Tribe then Animal Control will be called for support. It is your responsabilty to have a safe environment for the staff to be able to work.

Cases of animal neglect can also cause for animal removal from the property; this decision will be made with the support of Louis Bull Bylaw and Managment.

What if an animal is aggressive?
Animal Control classifies aggressive as a dog that lunges at a person or shows aggression to another animal.
Community safety is the priority and if a dog is called in for aggression it will be taken into the care of Animal Control where a decision will be made after an evaluation period. Animals considered aggressive will be subject to removal from Louis Bull Tribe and managed with the supervision of a Vet.
